Getting started

What exactly is Persona?

Persona is a dating app where you build an AI avatar that represents you. Your avatar meets other people's avatars in the background, has real conversations to gauge compatibility, and surfaces your strongest matches — so you spend your time connecting, not swiping.

How do I set up my avatar?

After signing up, you'll answer a short, honest set of prompts. That conversation shapes an avatar that thinks, talks, and chooses like you. You can refine it anytime in your profile.

Do I have to be 18?

Yes. Persona is strictly for adults 18 and older, verified at signup.

Your account

How do I sign in?

You can sign in with Apple or with your email. Your credentials are handled securely and never stored in plain text.

How do I edit my profile?

Go to the You tab → Edit Profile to update your photos, voice intro, prompts, and preferences.

How do I delete my account?

Go to the You tab → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and associated data. Full steps are on our Delete Your Account page.

Matches & avatar

Are the people real?

Yes — every avatar represents a real, 18+ person. Avatars do the exploring; real people do the dating. Matches are surfaced for you to review, and you choose who to actually talk to.

Do I still choose who I talk to?

Always. Your avatar meets others for you, but every match arrives for you to review. You decide who to chat with and who to keep.

Why did I get a particular match?

Your avatar and theirs had a conversation that suggested real compatibility. Over time, your feedback makes those suggestions sharper.

Verification

How do I get verified?

In Edit Profile, tap "Get verified" and follow the prompts to take a quick selfie. It's used only to confirm you're a real person and is never shown on your profile.

What happens to my verification selfie?

It's stored privately, used only for verification, never shown publicly, and deleted when it's no longer needed or when you delete your account. See our biometric data section.

Safety & reporting

How do I report or block someone?

Open a conversation, tap the menu, and choose Report or Block — or long-press a specific message or photo to report it. We review reports and act on objectionable content and abusive users, typically within 24 hours.

How does Persona keep me safe?

18+ enforcement, selfie verification, automatic screening of photos and messages, and one-tap report and block. Our Safety Center has tips for staying safe online and in person.

Billing & subscriptions

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by the App Store. Manage or cancel anytime in iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends.

Does deleting the app cancel my subscription?

No. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel it separately in your Apple ID settings.

How do refunds work?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy & data

Is my data used to train AI?

Your content is processed to power your avatar and matches, but it is not used to train third-party AI models. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes — you can request an export of your data from within the app, and permanently delete everything anytime.

Troubleshooting

The app is slow or won't load

Make sure you're on the latest version and have a stable connection, then fully close and reopen the app. If it persists, email support@persona-us.com with your device model and iOS version.

I'm not getting notifications

Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → Persona, and confirm notifications are enabled in the app's settings.
