Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective July 4, 2026 · Questions?

Persona is a dating app, and some of what you share to find a connection can be treated as "consumer health data" under new state privacy laws. This policy explains — in plain terms — exactly how we handle that data: what it is, how we collect and use it, who we share it with, and the control you have.

The short version

We collect the minimum needed to run the dating service, use it only to provide Persona and keep you safe, never sell it, obtain your consent before collecting or sharing it, and let you withdraw your consent and delete your data at any time. The sections below cover the details, including your rights under Washington's My Health My Data Act (MHMDA) and Nevada's SB370.

This Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains how Persona ("Persona", "we", "us") handles the categories of data that laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's SB370 define as consumer health data. It supplements our main Privacy Policy. If anything here conflicts with the main policy for consumer health data specifically, this document controls.

1. What consumer health data means here

Under these laws, "consumer health data" is personal information that is linked or reasonably linkable to a consumer and that identifies their past, present, or future physical or mental health status. For a dating app, this can include information that is reasonably linkable to your sexual orientation, gender, or reproductive or sexual-health intentions.

In practice, the information Persona may process that could fall within this definition is limited to:

  • Who you're interested in / sexual orientation — the gender(s) you'd like to be matched with.
  • Profile details you choose to share — anything you voluntarily add to your profile, avatar answers, or messages that could relate to your health, gender, or reproductive intentions.
  • Your verification selfie (biometric) — if you opt in to verification, the facial data used to confirm you are a real, live person.

2. How we collect it

In short

We collect it directly from you — never by buying it, and never in the background.

We collect this data directly from you when you build your profile and avatar and choose what to share, and when you opt in to identity verification. We do not purchase consumer health data, and we do not derive it from tracking you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use it

In short

Only to run the dating service and keep you safe — never for advertising, and never for sale.

We use this data only to provide the dating service — to build your profile and avatar and suggest compatible matches — and to keep Persona safe, such as confirming real people through verification. We never use consumer health data for advertising, and we never sell it.

4. Who we share it with

We share this data only with the service providers (processors) that help us run Persona — our database, AI, and verification providers — under contracts that require them to protect it and use it solely to provide their service to us. We never sell consumer health data and never share it for advertising or with data brokers.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access the consumer health data we hold about you, to delete it, and to withdraw your consent to our collection and use of it. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@persona-us.com. We will confirm your identity before acting on a request, so that no one else can access or delete your data, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

We obtain your consent before collecting any consumer health data, and we obtain separate, specific consent before sharing any of it with a processor. Verification is optional, and you choose what to add to your profile. You can revoke your consent at any time by emailing privacy@persona-us.com or by deleting your account; revoking consent does not affect processing that already took place before you withdrew it.

7. Retention & security

We keep consumer health data only as long as needed to provide the Service and meet our legal and safety obligations, and it is deleted when you delete your account. While we hold it, we protect it in line with our Security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest and strict access controls.
