How do I create a Persona account?

Download Persona from the App Store, open the app, and tap "Get Started." You can sign up with your email address or use Sign in with Apple for faster setup. You'll be asked to provide your name, date of birth (you must be 17+), and at least one profile photo. After that, you'll take the personality quiz to generate your unique personality profile.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter the email address associated with your account. You'll receive a password reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see it. The link expires after 1 hour. If you signed up with Apple, you don't have a Persona password — use Sign in with Apple to log in.

Can I change my email address?

Currently, you cannot change your email address directly in the app. Please contact us at support@persona-us.com from your registered email to request an email change. We'll verify your identity and update it within 48 hours.

What age do I need to be to use Persona?

You must be at least 17 years old. Persona is rated 17+ on the Apple App Store. Age verification is part of the sign-up process. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 17, it will be terminated immediately.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete Account → Confirm. This permanently removes all your data, including your profile, photos, messages, matches, personality scores, and conversation history. Deletion is processed within 30 days and cannot be undone. If you have a Persona Premium subscription, make sure to cancel it through your Apple ID settings first — deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription.

AI & Personality Matching

How does Persona's AI matching work?

When you take the personality quiz, our on-device AI analyzes your responses using the OCEAN (Big Five) personality model — the gold standard in personality psychology. It evaluates five dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism (emotional stability). Your scores are compared with other users' scores to calculate compatibility percentages. The entire AI analysis runs on your device using Apple's Core ML — your raw personality data never leaves your phone.

Is my personality data sent to the cloud or third-party AI?

No. Persona's AI runs entirely on your device using Apple's Core ML framework. Your quiz responses and the AI model's computations stay on your phone. Only the final personality dimension scores (5 numerical values between 0 and 1) are synced to our servers for matching purposes. We do not use OpenAI, Google AI, or any cloud-based AI service.

Can I retake the personality quiz?

Yes. Go to Wingman → Your Personality Profile → Retake Quiz. Your personality scores will be recalculated based on your new responses. Your existing matches and conversations will not be affected, but future compatibility scores will use your updated profile.

Why can't I see someone's full personality profile?

Personality reveals are a core part of the Persona experience. When you match with someone, personality traits are gradually revealed as you both engage in conversation. This encourages genuine connection through authentic communication rather than surface-level judgments. The more you chat, the more you discover about each other's personalities.

What is the Wingman AI?

Wingman is your personal AI dating assistant. It runs on-device and helps you understand your personality profile, provides conversation starters based on your compatibility with a match, and offers communication tips. Wingman is an informational tool — not a therapist or relationship counselor. Its suggestions are based on personality science, not professional advice.

Matching & Connections

How many matches can I get per week?

Free users receive up to 5 curated matches per week. These are selected by our algorithm based on personality compatibility, your preferences, and proximity. Persona Premium subscribers may receive additional features and match visibility. Quality over quantity is our philosophy.

How do I block or unmatch someone?

In a conversation, tap the ••• menu at the top right → select "Block" or "Unmatch." Blocking prevents the person from seeing your profile or contacting you. Unmatching removes the connection and deletes the conversation for both parties. The other person will not be notified that you blocked or unmatched them — you'll simply disappear from their list.

How do I report someone?

Tap ••• on their profile or in a conversation → "Report." Choose the reason (harassment, fake profile, inappropriate content, spam, etc.) and optionally add details. Our safety team reviews all reports within 24 hours. Reports are completely confidential — the reported person won't know who reported them. For urgent safety concerns, email safety@persona-us.com.

Privacy & Security

Is my data safe on Persona?

Yes. We take security seriously: AI runs on-device (not in the cloud), all data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), we use Row Level Security so users can only access their own data, authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, and we have biometric app locking (Face ID / Touch ID). We don't sell your data and don't use third-party analytics or ad trackers. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

How do I enable biometric lock (Face ID / Touch ID)?

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Biometric Lock → Enable. Once enabled, the app will require Face ID or Touch ID authentication every time you open it. This prevents anyone who has access to your phone from opening Persona without your biometric authentication.

Can I download a copy of my data?

Yes. Under GDPR, CCPA, and our universal privacy rights, you can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. Email privacy@persona-us.com with the subject "Data Export Request." We'll verify your identity and provide a JSON export within 30 days.

Does Persona track me across other apps?

No. Persona does not engage in cross-app tracking. We do not use Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers), we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission (because we don't track), and we do not integrate any third-party advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or social media trackers.

Billing & Subscriptions

Is Persona free?

Yes, Persona is free to download and use. Core features — including AI personality analysis, compatibility matching, messaging, personality reveals, and the Wingman AI — are all available at no cost. Persona Premium is an optional subscription that offers enhanced features.

How do I cancel my subscription?

All subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel: Open your iPhone Settings → Tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Find "Persona Premium" → Tap "Cancel Subscription." Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you'll retain premium features until then. Important: Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

How do I request a refund?

Since all payments are processed through Apple, refunds must be requested through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Persona transaction, and request a refund. Apple's refund policy applies. If you need assistance, contact us at support@persona-us.com and we can help guide you through the process.

I was charged after deleting the app

Deleting the Persona app does not cancel your subscription. Apple continues to bill you unless you explicitly cancel through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. If you've been charged after intending to cancel, contact Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Technical Issues

The app is crashing or not loading

Try these steps in order:

  1. Force-quit and reopen: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-click the Home button), swipe the Persona card up to close, then reopen.
  2. Check your internet: Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
  3. Update the app: Open the App Store, search for Persona, and install any available updates.
  4. Restart your device: Hold the power button, slide to power off, wait 30 seconds, then turn back on.
  5. Reinstall the app: Delete and re-download Persona from the App Store. Your account data is saved on our servers — you won't lose your profile or matches.

If the issue persists, email support@persona-us.com with your device model (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro), iOS version (e.g., iOS 17.4), and a description of the problem.

I'm not receiving push notifications

Check the following:

  1. iPhone Settings → Persona → Notifications → Make sure "Allow Notifications" is enabled.
  2. In the Persona app: Settings → Notifications → Ensure the notifications you want are toggled on.
  3. Make sure your phone isn't in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode.
  4. Check that Low Power Mode isn't restricting background activity.
  5. Force-quit and reopen the app to re-register for push notifications.
Photos aren't uploading

Make sure Persona has permission to access your photos: iPhone Settings → Persona → Photos → Select "All Photos" or "Selected Photos." Also check that you have a stable internet connection and that the photo isn't larger than 20 MB. Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC. If the issue persists, try restarting the app.

Messages aren't sending

If messages appear stuck or fail to send:

  1. Check your internet connection.
  2. The app has an offline queue — messages will automatically send when you reconnect.
  3. If the other person has blocked you or deleted their account, messages will fail to deliver.
  4. Try force-quitting and reopening the app.

What iOS versions are supported?

Persona requires iOS 17.0 or later. The app is optimized for iPhone and supports all iPhone models compatible with iOS 17, including iPhone XS and newer. iPad support may be added in a future update.
